Stop Marcelo's Deportation!
URGENT: Thanks to you, Marcelo was released from immigration detention on Tuesday, the day he was going to be deported! But Marcelo still has a final deportation order. If the immigration judge won't reopen the case, ICE could detain Marcelo again and deport him. We are asking ICE to commit that they won't deport Marcelo by granting him deferred action status. If you haven't signed the petition, please do.
On July 12, 2011, Marcelo's family member contacted the police in Illinois to assist her in getting into her locked car. The police opened the car door, but then they also arrested Marcelo and turned him over to ICE without filing any criminal charges or claiming that he had committed any crime. If we don't take action, Marcelo could be deported any day.
PLEASE FORWARD THIS PETITION AND ACTION ALERT TO 5 OF YOUR FRIENDS!

The Petition
To Assistant Secretary of Homeland Security, John Morton, and Secretary of Homeland Security, Janet Napolitano:
We, the undersigned, write to humbly request that you take action to immediately stop the deportation of Marcelo Castañeda Llamas (A# 097-911-858).
Marcelo was born in Mexico and was brought to the United States, in 1994, when he was only 9 years old. Now 25, he has been living in the United States for the majority of his life. Despite having lived in the United States for over 16 years, Marcelo finds himself fighting his deportation to a country he no longer remembers.
On July 12, 2011, Marcelo's family member contacted the police in Illinois to assist her in getting into her locked car. The police opened the car door, but then they also arrested Marcelo and turned him over to ICE without filing any criminal charges or claiming that he had committed any crime. Marcelo is currently being held at the Dodge County Detention Facility in Juneau, Wisconsin. He may be deported any day now.
Marcelo attended John Muir High School in Pasadena, California. In 2002, he left high school before receiving his diploma in order to help support his family. Despite the obstacles he faces, he is committed to continuing his education and intends to complete the requirements to obtain a GED or high school diploma.
Marcelo has three U.S. citizen siblings who would be separated from him if he were to be deported. He is a valued member of his family and community and has strong ties to both California and Illinois. Marcelo is a resilient and promising young person. In the face of incredible adversity, Marcelo has managed to not only survive, but to thrive, and he attributes much of that to the opportunities afforded to him in the United States.
Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano and President Obama have both stated that deporting undocumented youth brought to the U.S. as children is not a priority. Furthermore, according to the factors set forth in the Prosecutorial Discretion Memo issued by ICE Director Morton, Marcelo is not a priority for removal by DHS and merits a favorable exercise of discretion. We ask that you immediately take action to stop Marcelo’s deportation so he can continue to contribute to his community.
We, the undersigned, urge you to take immediate action to stop the deportation of Marcelo Castañeda Llamas.
