Either from the children’s story or from the popular film, you’re probably familiar with the Dr. Seuss’s How The Grinch Stole Christmas. But for many whose family members are in a detention facility or have already been deported, the Grinch who stole Christmas this year was President Obama:
While claiming to be on our side, the Obama Administration continues to deport our loved ones in record numbers. Every single day, hundreds more get separated from their families. Worse still, the possibility of reform seems farther and farther away as Obama continues to blame Congress for the problems he can solve on his own.
Will Obama’s heart grow three sizes next year and grant relief? Will he stop the fatally flawed Secure Communities program? Hopefully, next year won’t mean more of the same.

This year, we want to wish you a Happy Holiday season spent with your beautiful family. In fact, you should consider yourself lucky because your administration is great at separating them, which is strange considering some of your family members are undocumented. But while you are busy trying to appease those who doubt the authenticity of your birth certificate, we still have the audacity to hope that you will evolve into the kind of change we can believe in.
This past year, you’ve given us the wrong kind of change. Instead of standing up for a community who supported you, you decided to thank us with more deportations than any other President. In fact, this holiday season, we asked Santa to help your heart grow. But given your immigration policies, even Santa has trouble crossing the border.
We know you think about us often and wonder what we’re up to. The truth is that we miss the way you used to be and want to go back to the good old days when we were friends. We don’t want to give up on you so easily, so how about we get this year off to a good start?
