To Assistant Secretary of Homeland Security, John Morton; and Secretary of Homeland Security, Janet Napolitano:
I am writing to call for the immediate release of Charles Rodriguez (A# 094-041-004) from Broward Transitional Center in Florida and urge that you take immediate action to stop his deportation.
On a typical Thursday morning, Charles rose early in the morning to get ready to go to work. Unfortunately, when Charles reached the stadium in which he works, he was stopped by Immigration Officials who wanted to see proof of U.S. ID. When Charles was unable to present one, he was taken into custody and sent to Broward Transitional Center in Florida, where has spent the last two months, despite suffering from severe tooth pain.
Charles, a husband and father, immigrated to the United States almost ten years ago on November 2003. Facing dire economic conditions in Nicaragua, Charles immigrated to the United States to provide for his family. Charles is an active member of Las Asambleas de Dios, a church located in Miami, and led a Bible Study class in his church. Since being detained, Charles has been suffering from a tooth infection which has caused him severe physical pain. He is not receiving any treatment for his tooth infection in Broward, and needs to be released before he becomes sicker.
According to the memo issued by John Morton, Charles is a low-priority case and should be granted favorable exercise of prosecutorial discretion. Charles is the breadwinner for his family, whose well-being depends on Charles' ability to stay here. Please help keep Charles in the country that he considers home so that he can remain with his family and continue providing for them.
I urge you to release Charles Rodriguez from Broward Transitional Center and call on ICE to stop his deportation.
